Sewing again...

I have finally been able to get back to some sewing. I made these dishtowels for my granddaughter's wedding shower...

and I made these curtains for my kitchen windows. I am also working on curtains for my sewing room (to be revealed later) and I am getting one block a day done on a quilt I am hoping to finish soon. If you are on the east coast, I hope your snow goes away soon. Here in the Rockies, we really haven't had a winter till yesterday when we got some snow. I know my friends in the Northwest have also had a spring like winter. This is not helping my son who has taken over our heating business there. Well, see you again soon. Love, Derrith

A Valentine to Heidi

Happy Valentine's Day! I wanted to share with you these pictures of how my daughter Heidi decorated her house for the holiday. It was so pretty!

She made this banner in an afternoon with materials she had on hand. So cute!

So simple but so effective.

She made these roses out of tissue paper...beautiful!

She had these fun little vignettes all over her house.

Click on this pic to see the detail on this. I loved it.

I made these two boxes a few years ago and she saved them. Since they were meant to look a bit shabby, the age hasn't hurt them.

Look at this little cake! This was a Valentine gift from Heidi to Gary and I . Is that the cutest cake you've ever seen?  I hope your day was sweet as well. See you again soon. Love, Derrith

Downton Abbey Premier Party

I know I am a week late on posting these pictures, but with my new job and preparing a talk to give in church, I haven't had much time to figure out how to get pictures from my phone to my blog.  Anyway, my sweet daughter invited me to this party last Sunday night.

As you can see, they had a full fare of British treats. My daughter, Heidi made this beautiful Trifle.(Don't know if that's how you spell it) We also had scones with clotted cream and berry preserves.

Our Hostess, Lori brought out her fabulous tea cup collected that she has gathered from different European cities. The sherbet and pastel colors were dreamy! She also offered a lovely selection of herbal teas. We watched the show as we nibbled, giving advise to Lady Mary on her choice of beaus! It was really fun. Now it's time to go watch tonight's episode! Thanks for stopping by.         Love, Derrith

My Priceless Possession

Hello friends. I have been absent from my blog for over two months and I appreciate anyone who may still be visiting. I have gone through a challenging move, enjoyed the holidays with family in spite of unpacked boxes here and there and now I am ready to face the new year.  I wanted to share with you this "priceless possession". It was made for me by Anita for my quilt group Christmas gift exchange. I love it for itself, but each of my beloved "Sisters'n'Stitches" hand signed it as a going away gift.

I cherish it because I love these women and appreciate the acceptance and love they gave to me and because I miss them SO MUCH!  I have wanted to get back to posting on my blog but felt rusty and wasn't sure if I should. Then I received a note from my dear friend Heather who I have known since we were in 5th grade when we played "Mouseketeers" together. She is a brilliant artist and Art Quilter and she encouraged me to blog again with very kind words about how positive she thought my posts were and how much she enjoyed them. So, thank you Heather for motivating me to get going again. I hope that in a few days I will have my new sewing room cleaned up enough for pictures. Until then, thank you to my patient friends and followers.      Love,  Derrith

Be-Witching Quilt Group

It is our tradition to meet at Jayna's house for our October meeting because she is the Halloween Queen and her house is a Holloween wonderland! We had a great time and a great "Show and Tell" which I will share with you. This fun quilt was done by our hostess, Jayna. Love the great Halloween colors!

This cute "picnic quilt" is also Jayna's, fresh back from the quilter.
Candy showed us one of the three panels she had made of this pattern. She said  they were so quick and fun to make, she couldn't stop!

Check out the darling pillow that Candy made. We all LOVED the lamb with the pumpkin behind it.. SO CUTE!

Barb machine embroidered this darling baby announcement and had it framed for a family member.
Clever Margy bought this bag and then embellished it with this machine ebroidered scene in brown. Very cool!
Margy had made a hat for a friend going through Cemo, and decided  to make one for herself as well. It had a cute co-ordinating lining.
Anita shared this super cute table runner. The pattern and fabrics are so happy!
Anita also made this sweet flannel baby blanket.
Jayna's cats kept us well entertained all night! I hope your Autumn is going well. We are finally getting Fall appropriate weather and I love being able to stay in my Hoodie all day. I hope you will stop by again soon.  Love, Derrith

Pumpkin Hill Completed!

"Pumpkin Hill" is finally back from the quilter (who did a fantastic job) and up on the wall to celebrate Autumn.

It's my first fall themed quilt that I've done for my living room because I thought fall colors wouldn't go with my blue, red and yellow color scheme. Silly Me. It looks just fine.

Of course, if you have been following my blog, you know that I have sold my house and I really don't know what the color scheme will be in my new house, but it will all work out. I am at my daughter's house and her house is SO decorated for Halloween, it is inspiring. I have been a bit distracted lately, to say the least, and decorating has not been a priority. Thank you for visiting...I know I haven't had much to show lately. See you again soon. -Derrith

Pumpkin Pillow

I just finished this pillow for a friend. She visited this summer and found the 12 X 12 center of the pillow that was left over from a challenge my quilting group had. She loved it and ask that I make it into a pillow so I used orange wool for the borders and a striped flannel on the back. I'm so glad she wanted it or it would have sat in my sewing room forever!  Well, we accepted the offer on our house, so now we are looking for a new home. The saga continues.....
