Inspiring Stories

I've really enjoyed this issue of "Where Women Create" It's inspiring to see what "ordinary" women can do when they put their mind to it. There are so ;many really great and inspiring quotes, but I will just share 3 of my favorites for today:

"To be perpetually thrilled with life need not detract from the solidarity or your goals or the soberness of your purpose."
-anonymous

And this one from Melody Ross and Kathy Wilkins, that is truly great advice:

"When it comes to big dreams and ideas, start where you are, with what you have...don't wait around until you can do everything exactly the way you have it planned out. Don't wait for all of the circumstances to be perfect or for enough resources to show up. If you have an idea that you feel is compelling, that makes your heart beat fast, that you are really passionate about...start where you are and do what you can right now!"

And I loved this one:

"Feeling Gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." -William Arthur Ward

I am very grateful for all the incredible women I know who inspire me with their talent and spirit and generosity! Thank you for your kind comments about my blog. They mean a lot to me!

Plucky Maidens Junk Fest at McMenamins Edgefield

This was such a fun show! Over 50 vendors in the trees and gardens at McMenamins Edgefield
They had a nice variety of Vintage treasures and everyone is so friendly!
Great vintage Pyrex in Matt and Veronica's "Olive Kat" booth

These are random pics of other people's booths. The Plucky Maidens will be having more shows throughout 2011 and 2012. I'll post the dates soon.

Don't forget the Vintage Gathering Sale this Saturday, August 20th in Battleground! I'm off to the coast for a few days with fabulous grand daughters, Katherine and Olivia (The inspiration for the name "Olive Kat")

Happy Birthday to my first baby, Holly Kristin Parker!

Bridal Shower Style!

I love it when I see something I've never seen done before. My daughter-in-law, Veronica created these fantastic boxes as centerpieces for her niece, Mackenzie's bridal shower. She took
large boxes ,( well-not huge, but table top size) covered them in gorgeous paper to match the bride's color scheme, and then made copies of photos of the bride and groom at different ages
and attached them to the box. She then embellished them with darling metal buttons and topped them with fabulous white tissue flowers and glittered green leaves. Brilliant!
She used larger versions of the paper flowers to anchor swags around the patio room by Horseshoe lake.
My grand daughter, Katherine helped her Mom create the boxes. She is very talented also(as well as beautiful)! Another of Veronica's nieces, Janell helped as well!

The boxes were such a big hit, I think they decided to use them at the wedding as well. It was such a great idea and lovely way to honor the bride!

Andy's Water Babies

Porter, Payden and Shelby wanted to be in the pool 24/7 during our visit to Seaside!
They loved the beach too! They asked if we could go every week! I really wouldn't mind!

Favorite Places at the Coast: Gearhart & Seaside

I took Andy's kiddos to the coast for a few days, along with Gabbie. We spent a lot of time in the pool, on the beach (and in the Arcade), but I also managed quick stops at some of my favorite places. "Pacific Crest Cottage" in Gearhart is my favorite little shop. It has fabulous treasures that are really unique. The owner goes on buying trips abroad and it is a real treat to see what she finds!

This was just one of the fun British themed items in the store.

These next 3 pics are of "Fitzgeralds" which shares a parking lot with Pacific Crest Cottage. They have some fun garden items and beautiful plants.

This is another of my favorite shops in Gearhart: Romancing the Home.
They have some wonderful vintage items and a lot of refinished and repurposed furniture.
One of my "Dream Beach Cottages" in Gearhart, Oregon
The view from the deck of our condo in Seaside was this lovely historic Victorian.
