My New Wreath

I promised a picture of the wreath I was working on, using my daughter's techniques. I am happy with the results. I kind of want to make more, but I am trying to get back to my quilting and there are only so many hours in the day. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We surely did. Thanks for visiting. Love, Derrith

Dreamy Decorations

While visiting in Utah last week, my daughter took me to a fabulous store in Orem called The Gatehouse. They had the most beautiful furniture and home decor items AND magical Christmas trees, mantles and decorations. Please enjoy browsing below. It inspired me...perhaps it will inspire you too.

I plan on putting up my tree tomorrow. I've already put the Christmas Quilt up on the wall. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!  Love, Derrith

Heidi's Wreaths

I spent last week visiting in Salt Lake City. I had a 3 day retreat with two dear friends, a perfect day with my sister and 3 days with my daughters and their families. I wasn't ready to go home when the time came, but my sweet husband and doggie were waiting for me there.  I got to watch my daughter Heidi make up some beautiful wreaths. I LOVED this one with a snowy woodland feel and and fluffy owl!

This one has a similar feel. You can't see the snowy sparkles in the picture, but it was really beautiful. She makes these to sell along with her tree trimming business called "Over The Top Trees". She also does beautiful mantle arrangements.  If you live in the greater Salt Lake area and would like a spectacular Christmas Tree, click on this link:Over The Top Trees

She can work with any budget and your own ornaments or design a tree just for you in the colors you want.

I love this coffee filter wreath she made. She used the largest size of filters and then tea stained them.  Most are folded up tight and then she just opened up a few to get the effect of flowers nestled in leaves. Really Pretty!

This was a birch clad hanging basket she filled with bright greenery - so cute!

Please pretend you don't see the arm holding up this cute candy cane shaped wreath. Heidi inspired me to make my own wreath which I hope to finish today. I will show you the results soon. Thank you so much for visiting today. Love, Derrith

November Quilt Group Show and Tell

Our numbers were small this month but we enjoy the chummy feeling of an intimate group. Loralie showed us this fabulous apron she made with the help of her Embroidery maching. What a darling gift for a grandchild!

Our hostess, Anita made a darling wall hanging as well as the lovely table runner below that we were all admiring.

I loved the plaids for fall - so fun.

Pat K. showed off her stunning batik quilt. The colors were so beautiful.  I have just returned from a week in Utah and have lots to share and will do so soon. I'm sorry I have been slow to post lately, but plan on repenting. Love, Derrith

November Notes

I've been thinking about Thanksgiving and working on a little display at our Vintage Shop.

My graphic artist nephew, Tim did some new chalkboard art for me. I'm still slowly working on my fall themed quilt and hope to have one more block to show soon.

I found this little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ornament at JoAnns. I HAD to take it home with me because...

it looked like my sweet Cavalier, Molly. Just wanted to share. :-) Thank you for visiting...see you again very soon. Love, Derrith

Dish Towels for Veronica

I just finished these dish towels for my daughter-in-law's kitchen. They are re-doing it in vintage mint green and delft blue.

She and my son have been Pyrex collectors for many years, so I modified a cute "nesting bowls" design that I had seen, adding appliqued fabric to try to get the Pyrex look.

Veronica and Matt's kitchen make over is still in progress, so I will show the finished product later. I just wanted to show you the fun vintage pieces they have displayed above their cupboards.

They have collected Jadite, Delphite and Azurite pieces from Pyrex and Fireking in addition to other vintage kitchenware in these colors.

I love the result. I look forward to the full kitchen reveal!

Veronica has always displayed and used vintage pieces in her kitchen. We have featured lots of her Pyrex finds in our little store. Well, thanks for visiting...please stop by any time. Love, Derrith
