May I Recommend...

I would like to recommend this book to wives of all ages. I has been written by a friend of mine and it is a brilliant book. There is great insight into why husbands behave the way they do. Once you have a clearer understanding of that, it unlocks the key to a rich, rewarding marriage. The book is beautifully written in a non clinical style that is easy to read and understand. This book would be invaluable to a newlywed wife, but anyone of any age could benefit from the information and advice...I know I did!   -Derrith

Holding On To Summer

I finally finished my Anchor Quilt. It still needs to be quilted and bound, so it probably won't be ready to hang in my living room until next August. I've noticed other bloggers are already gearing up for Halloween and even Christmas. I'm still hanging onto summer, working on a couple nautical projects.'
These dish towels worked up pretty quickly.

I decided I wanted some nautical pillows but the fabric I found that was the closest to what I had envisioned was too bright, so I used the wrong side of the fabric to get the kind of faded look I wanted. I really appreciate you stopping by and hope you will come again! -Derrith

Oregon Coast For The Day

Gary and I took another little jaunt over to the coast recently and this was my first stop: my favorite little shop.

This was the first time I'd seen a display behind the little shop. I found a wonderful vintage tablecloth back there.

The shop is such a delight - so much eye candy!

I loved this collage of fabric, flag and stamps.

Aren't we all?
We always take a drive in Gearhart (OR) to see our favorite beach houses.

Dusk in Seaside, OR. Thank for coming along on our trip. I promise to have some hand mades to show you soon. I think. It's been a lazy summer for me. :-} Please come again. -Derrith

Here a chick, there a chick: Pat, Part 3

If you have been following my blog this last week, you will know that I have been featuring the talents of my quilting buddie, Pat. We've seen her beautiful quilts and her gorgeous garden, and now...

...you will see her fun chicken collection AND some samples of her fabulous artwork.

She has chickens artfully displayed around her house and it is really fun.

These are two of my favorites. Pat is an accomplished artist and she has used her chicks as inspiration for some of her art:

I wish you could see these paintings in person - they are so well done.

Another fun one!

Whatever Pat does, she does it extremely well!

I apologize for the reflection on this painting.A big thank you to Pat- we love seeing the variety of what you have created.  I'm so glad you visited today. Please stop back by any time. -Derrith

Visiting Pat Part Two - The Garden

Today I will show you around my friend Pat's expansive and amazing garden.
It is so beautifully laid out and meticulously kept.
She even made her Heat pump look beautiful.
This gives you an idea of the detail and symmetry in her garden.

Pat and her husband have built beautiful pieces of Garden architecture and created several fun focal points.

How's this for a garden shed?! I love it!

She has a vegetable container garden to drool over.

She has gorgeous bright colored flowers all over her garden, but I also love pure white roses.

This is my beautiful, multi-talented friend Pat in the lovely garden she and her husband created. Thank you for the tour, Pat.
