Summer at "The Olive Kat"

This weekend is the biggest "Vintage Gathering" Flea Market Sale of the summer. You don't want to miss it! Click on the link under my favorite blogs to get full details and directions. Look for Matt and Veronica's booth and say "Hi"!

This pic was from the last Vintage Gathering Sale. Loved the old shutters Matt found!

This pic (below) was actually from last summer. The quilt is one I made - it's called "Under The Sea" We have lots of beautiful sun washed beach cottage items this year too.

Summer hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 5:00. Come see us!

A Fairy Quilt and others...

I recently finished this Fairy quilt for grand daughter, Delaney. I found this cute fairy fabric and tried to showcase it in the design.

I made this quilt for my niece, Caroline when she got married a couple years ago. I just got a picture of it when I visited her in California this summer.

These aren't the colors I usually work with but daughter Holly requested these for a room she was decorating.

Summer Projects

I found these wicker chairs at a thrift shop. I cleaned them up, made new cushions and my son, Matt painted them a heavenly shade of blue. They are at "The Olive Kat"

I got this Hawaiian shirt quilt pattern from my friend, Sue Brown and used it on dish towels for a Hawaiian display at the shop.

I used a block from a quilt I'm working on to make this calico flag pillow for the 4th of July.

I found this old sheet music in a thrift shop at the coast...added some ticking and framed it...loved the result.

Summer Travels

Just spend several days with daughters and grandkids at the Worldmark in Midway, Utah. Its a beautiful Swiss themed town in the mountains east of Provo and north of Park City. It is also known for it's historic Victorian architecture. I loved it!

Gary spent summers on Catalina island as a boy and has always wanted me to see it. This summer we went on a short Baja cruise that stopped at Catalina. I fell in love with it! It is a beautiful, idyllic island - still has a bit of a 50's and 60's California vibe. I'd love to spend a week there!

Welcome to My Blog

I am inaugurating my blog with generous help from my two talented daughters, Holly and Heidi. I was inspired by visiting all the fun blogs on the "where-bloggers-create.blogspot.com" website and thought "I have some things I'd like to share with friends and family too!" I will share fun places I visit, including shops I find and ones I already love. I will also share quilts and sewing projects and furniture refinishing projects that I'm working on and the work of others that I love and admire. Since I make things and find treasures for my son and daugher-in-law's darling shop, "The Olive Kat" (named for their daughters - Olivia and Katherine), I will also be sharing pictures of the fun things they have in the store, showcasing Veronica's magic touch for display.
I welcome new friends who will share their talents and imagination with me and hope to have visits from my kids and grandkids as well. Welcome to my blog!
